Picnic on the Patio

Just outside the basement door is a patio overlooking the creek. This spring day was perfect for a picnic there.

The cook grilled up some delicious steaks.

Easter at the Cottage

We spent Easter at the cottage and had a wonderful spring weekend.

Our stay would not be complete without an egg hunt on the lawn.

Emigrant Creek still has a touch of snow in it, but it is melting quickly and it won't be long before we have flowers and leaves.

Lounging and Cooking

I purposely designed this kitchen to be quick and effecient. Who wants to spend their vacation cleaning house. It is very easy to work in with plenty of counter space, new appliances, and cooking utensils.

The basement features an area outside the bedrooms for lounging and the french doors open onto the patio that overlooks the creek.

The main floor also has a lounging area complete couches and a television. Perfect for relaxing after a day in Yellowstone.

Bathrooms

The cottage has two bathrooms, one on each floor. They both have tile showers and unlimited hot water.

This is the pebble floor to massage your feet in one shower.

I really love the claw foot tub. It is cast iron and holds the heat of the water amazingly well. I can take a bath for a half an hour and still not want get out.

Sites from the Cottage

This is a fall shot of the back porch of the cottage. I love to sit on the porch and listen to the creek while I sip on a cup of coffee.

The front of the cottage and the driveway which has lots of room for parking.

Bedrooms

The cottage has three bedrooms with queen sized beds. Here is the master bedroom on the main floor. It has a large window that looks over the creek. The bonus is you can hear the creek from every room.

The basement is daylighted which allows for ample light and there are two bedrooms.

This is the loft with the three full sized beds. Children love this space and feel like they are having a sleepover when they are here. For your comfort, two fans are provided.

One of Two Bathrooms

The shower in this bathroom is very roomy, a full four feet square. As a bonus, we enjoy unlimited hot water thanks to our tankless water heater. I don't have to rush through my shower and everyone else will still have hot water when I am done. It saves energy by only heating the water that is used. Pretty nice since all winter the cottage is pretty much empty for days at a time.

Washington, North Dakota Commenters

These folks enjoyed the cottage while celebrating their dad's sixtieth birthday. They had a full week with horseback riding, touring the park, hiking the mountains, and exploring Emigrant Creek.

Mid-Winter Shadows

{Master bed headboard}

Mid-winter the sun is low and we get many clear days to enjoy it. I love how the shadows play off the walls in the cottage. I also love these old doors we salvaged from the original building.

Emigrant Creek Cabins

In the immediate area of the cottage are two more smaller cabins. They are both within walking distance, but are far enough apart to offer privacy. Some groups choose to rent all three places and then gather at the cottage for activities, dinner, pictures, etc. It seems to work well for families and groups of friends. Each group can have their own space, while still being able the enjoy the company of the others when they feel like it.

Here is a great link to a recipe a couple enjoyed while staying in the Gulch Cabin http://www.justgoodeats.com/recipes/show.php?record_ID=189

Coffee on the Porch

Hot cup of coffee, enjoyed in the morning sun on the back porch, listening to the birds and the frozen creek. It is the BEST place to be.

Yellowstone in the Winter

Here is a great blog post about Yellowstone in the winter. It details the skating rink in Mammoth and cross-country skiing the terraces. Brings back some great memories I have of winter visits to YNP. Good times... http://www.nashan.com/2008/12/yellowstone-national-park-in-winter.html and some pretty good pictures!

Speaking of winter, snow, and cold, here is the cottage in the winter.
